Course Introduction
This two-year Technical Qualification focusesÌýonÌýa range of childcare and education subjects.ÌýThis will allow you to progress to highly skilled employment, university or an apprenticeship.
Roughly 80% of your learning will be theory-based and will develop your research, problem solving, solution-development, communication and collaboration skills. This is a varied course where one week you could learn about the safeguarding aspect and the next could be observing the behaviours within a nursery setting.Ìý
Industry PlacementÌý
The T Level will include a minimum of 315 hours of learning on work experience placement. Our Industrial Placement Officers will help you link up with an employer and complete work experience relevant to your interests.
All students will develop an understanding of:
- Understanding the education and childcare sector from ages 0 to 19
- Child development
- How to support children and young people’s education
- Safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing
- Understanding and managing behaviour
- Observing and assessing children and young people
- Equality and diversity
- Special educational needs and disability
- English as an additional language
- Working with parents, carers and wider families
- Working with agencies and services that support children, families and carers
- Reflective practice and other forms of professional development
- Specialist route - Early years education and childcare
Entry pathways to this course include:Ìý
- You will need to be aged 16-18 years old.
- Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths
- Successful completion of the Transition Programme
A DBS clearance check is required to do this course.Ìý
T Levels will provide several progression options to students. These include skilled employment, an apprenticeship and higher education.To help T Level students get into higher education, UCAS tariff points will be allocated to T Levels.UCAS points will only be allocated to the overall T Level grade. Students must achieve at least an overall pass grade to receive UCAS points.
